1. What is Functional Health?

Functional health is a personalized approach to wellness that focuses on addressing the root causes of health issues rather than just managing symptoms. It takes into account an individual’s lifestyle, genetics, environment, and biochemistry to create a customized plan for optimal health.

2. How is functional health different from traditional medicine?

Traditional medicine typically focuses on diagnosing and treating specific conditions with medication, whereas functional health aims to identify and treat underlying imbalances or dysfunctions in the body. Functional health practitioners often work in collaboration with other healthcare providers to offer a holistic, integrative approach.

3. Who can benefit from a functional approach to health?

Everyone! Anyone seeking to improve their overall health or struggling with chronic conditions such as digestive issues, developmental disabilities, nhormonal imbalances, autoimmune diseases, stress, fatigue, weight management, and more can benefit. This approach is highly personalized and can help individuals of all ages and degrees of health.

4. What can I expect during my first visit?

During your first visit, you’ll have an in-depth consultation with your practitioner. You’ll discuss your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and any goals you have for your health. If you purchased testing prior to the appointment, you can also expect a detailed review of the results during your intake appointment. The practitioner may recommend further functional lab testing or other assessments to gain more insight into your unique biochemistry.

5. Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?

No, you do not need a referral. You can book an appointment directly with our practice. However, if you are working with other healthcare providers, it’s helpful to have those records for a more comprehensive view of your health.

6. Are your costs covered by insurance?

Insurance coverage for functional health services varies. Many insurance plans cover certain types of health consultations, while others may not cover the full cost of functional testing or treatments. We recommend checking with your insurance provider for details and do provide you with a Superbill after your appointment, which can be submitted for possible reimbursement.

7. Do you take HSA/FSA payments?

Yes, and yes! Health Savings or Flexible Spending Accounts can be used for consultation fees, supplement purchases, and testing costs.

Your practitioner will work with you to set realistic expectations.
